A queen of luxe, polished blow dries, cute hair bows (and other accessories) and mermaid-esque lengths… Sydney Sweeney is nothing less than a Disney princess when it comes to her hair, right? Wrong. The star attended Miu Miu’s autumn/winter 2024 show in Paris on Tuesday with an edgy new chop that couldn’t have been further from her usual beauty blueprint.
Wearing an oversized blazer and embellished hotpants, Sweeney’s new aesthetic felt wholly grunge-inspired. Firstly, there was the cut: long gone were the pretty lengths that recently won her a Kérastase contract, and in their place was a blunt-cut mid-length lob. With lived-in roots that segued into lighter blonde at the ends (courtesy of the balayage technique), Sweeney’s hair fell over the right-hand side of her shades.
Was Kurt Cobain on her hairstylist’s moodboard? His influence was evident in the messy side parting, dishevelled, slightly knotty mid-lengths and damp (or – real talk – greasy) texture. In fact, Sweeney could have arrived straight from a Nirvana gig in 1992. It may be a departure from her usual look, but Sydney looks incredibly cool. Nailed it.
