When the heat hits and there’s no option other than to throw your hair up for ventilation’s sake, keep Margot Robbie’s recent up-do in mind. While on the press tour for her forthcoming film, Barbie, the actor showed off an impressive retro ponytail that works just as well during the day as it does for evening events.

Created by her go-to hairstylist, Bryce Scarlett, the style took inspiration from the 1950s, when volume, exaggerated waves and quiffs were de rigueur in the world of women’s hair. Robbie’s “original Barbie” look saw her hair pulled up into a high ponytail, which sat at the crown of her head.

Styled into bouncy, big-barrel waves, her blonde hair fell down her neck, drawing attention to an elegant, bare décolletage. At the front of the style, her hair was styled into a deep side parting with a loose sweep of side fringe curled at the end – a modern take on a retro look.

Super chic – especially when paired with white cat-eye sunglasses and a coral-gloss lip – Robbie’s glam team took inspiration from a vintage Barbie doll from years gone by. The definition of committing to a theme, Margot has recently made a number of appearances in Barbie-ready looks. Far from saccharine or cheap, Robbie is single-handedly making Barbie beauty one of the biggest trends of summer – take note.
