Talk about commitment to a theme. Margot Robbie has served a never-ending stream of perfectly pink, Barbie-ready looks while on the press tour for her new film, Barbie, in which she stars as the iconic Mattel doll. While the thought of all pink everything can feel like a little too much for even the girliest of girls, somehow Robbie has pulled it off with aplomb.
As well as a retro hairstyle – inspired by a vintage Barbie doll from days gone by – the star has sported pink suiting, two-pieces, chainmail and – lest we forget – pink eyeshadow and the rosiest of blushers. But, arguably the chicest detail in her all-pink crusade came in the form of a pink two-tone French manicure, worn for the film’s premiere in Seoul, South Korea.
Painted by South Korean nail artist, Cho (@hand.manicure on Instagram), the design combined hot-pink tips with a baby-pink base. Filed into a soft, oval shape, Margot’s nails were finished with a glossy top coat and immaculate nail beds – it’s what Barbie would have wanted.
While the French manicure is nothing new, in the past few years it’s had a renaissance and is one of the most popular nail art trends for summer. Experimenting with different colours – particularly different shades from the same palette – is a great way to mix up your regular mani, as Margot proves. So next time you’re at the nail salon, why not Barbie-fy your look, too?
